Hydra turns into Hollywood as sets begin to take shape for the film starring Brad Pitt – The actor is expected on the island tomorrow

Narrow alleyways, squares and landmark buildings are gradually being transformed into open-air film sets, making use of the island’s distinctive architecture and aesthetic identity

Phrixos Drakondidis February 19 02:44

The island of Hydra is being transformed into a large-scale film set as preparations intensify for a new international production starring Brad Pitt.

Activity is centered around the island’s port, where the main set for the shoot has been taking shape in recent hours. According to reports, the production has already leased three shops along the waterfront area.

One is being used as storage space for equipment, while the other two are being converted into sets: the first is being arranged as a ticket office for the flying dolphin ferry, and the second as a traditional café, to serve the needs of specific scenes. Despite the heightened activity, Brad Pitt has not yet appeared on the island, though his arrival is expected by tomorrow, barring any unforeseen changes.

His presence is expected to draw even greater attention, as Hydra is already operating at near full capacity. Members of the large production crew have filled available accommodations. All operating hotels are fully booked, and cafés and restaurants that are open are reporting high occupancy. Indicative of the scale of the production, two large tents have been set up outside the Hydroussa Hotel to serve as catering facilities for the crew.

At the same time, installation of sets and equipment continues at a brisk pace across various parts of the island. Narrow streets, squares and distinctive buildings are steadily being adapted into natural filming locations, highlighting Hydra’s unique architectural character.

According to the production schedule, filming is expected to begin on 21 February, marking Hydra’s return to the international film scene once again.
