The 16-year-old Laura, who had gone missing from Patras in early January, is currently staying in a youth care facility. The teenager was found in Berlin during a routine check and is in good health.
According to information from protothema.gr, Laura expressed her wish to have no contact either with her parents or with the Greek authorities. German authorities are respecting the minor’s wishes and have confirmed that she is well, according to the same sources.
The disappearance in Patras
The disappearance of the 16-year-old was officially reported on January 8, when her parents—who are German nationals living permanently in Patras—went to the police station and stated that their daughter was missing.
Following the investigation, the Hellenic Police determined that the minor had recently purchased an iPhone from a classmate and had confided in a friend that she needed money in order to go somewhere.
Laura then left Patras and traveled to Athens, specifically to the Zografou area, by taxi. The driver testified that the minor was alone throughout the journey. After arriving in Athens, Laura visited a travel agency and bought a ticket to Frankfurt.
On February 9, a signal indicating her presence was detected in Berlin, while communication between the Hellenic Police, the German authorities, and Europol remained ongoing throughout the previous period.
Ultimately, the search for her ended successfully, as on Thursday (February 26) the girl was located in Berlin.
