His son recalled the moment he realized that the “end” was approaching for Ozzy Osbourne.
The legendary Black Sabbath frontman died at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025, just 17 days after his farewell concert with the band. Jack Osbourne appeared on an episode of the podcast HATE TO BREAK IT TO YA, where he spoke about the final weeks of his father’s life.
At one point, he shared a shocking conversation he had with the heavy metal legend the night after the Sabbath farewell concert, which made him realize something painful. As Jack Osbourne was helping his father get ready for bed, Ozzy confided in him that he wanted to “cut his hair.”
“Yeah, it was a surprise, for sure. Obviously everyone knew he was sick… But we weren’t expecting it to be as quick as it was.”
Jack recalled a moment shortly before leaving England after Ozzy’s final performance at the charity concert Back To The Beginning. While helping his father get ready for bed, Ozzy made a comment that stuck with him.
“I was putting him to bed, and he was brushing his teeth and looking at himself in the mirror. And he goes, ‘I think I’m gonna cut my hair off.’
I’m like, ‘Why?’
And he says, ‘I’ve retired. I’m not a rock star anymore.’”
Looking back now, Jack believes that moment revealed something deeper.
“I think about that, and I’m like, yeah, he was done. He was okay with his journey.”
A Quiet Morning
According to Jack, the day Ozzy died was surprisingly normal.
“Even the morning that he passed, it wasn’t anything dramatic at all. He was up, doing his thing, had some breakfast, and that was it.”
Ozzy’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, also shared details about the last night they spent together during an interview with Piers Morgan.
She recalled Ozzy waking her in the early morning hours.
“He said, ‘Kiss me.’ And then he said, ‘Hug me tight.’”
Later that morning, Ozzy went downstairs and did a short workout before collapsing.
“He had a heart attack,” Sharon said.
“They were trying to resuscitate him, and I said, ‘Don’t… just leave him. He’s gone.’”
