His father spoke on Wednesday morning about the enormous battle being fought by Gerasimos, the sole survivor from the first carriage of the passenger train in the Tempi tragedy.
Expressing his joy that the Tempi trial has begun, Gerasimos’ father said that “for three years we have waited for this day to do justice to those 57 who so violently left but not only those who left for heaven but also Gerasimos who a few kilometers from here is fighting a huge battle with terrible pains and everything, with a child who lives in the darkness unjustly and the other children who go in and out of the operating rooms and no one talks about them.”
When asked about what is happening in the courtroom, he said, “I hope there will be a fair trial and accountability without anyone getting away with it. I hope there will be a fair trial. I am not a judge, but I hope he will be vindicated,” the young man’s father added.
Finally, asked about Gerasimos’ condition, he was content to say that “my child is receiving excellent care with a huge team of doctors and with the love of everyone at the Iaso hospital (in Larissa).”
