Weather: Local showers and temperature drop until Good Friday – rise on Easter Sunday

According to Theodoros Kolydas, only a few light showers are expected on Easter Sunday morning in the east, with local showers at midday in mountainous areas

The weather will feature local showers, mainly in the eastern parts of the country, the northern Aegean, Crete, and mountainous areas, through to Easter Sunday, according to meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas.

As he notes, on Holy Thursday instability will be slightly more pronounced in Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, eastern Central Greece, and Evia, while a few snowfalls are expected in northern mountainous areas. From Good Friday onwards, the phenomena will become more limited and short-lived.

Finally, according to Kolydas, Easter Sunday will see only a few light showers in the morning in eastern regions and localized showers at midday in mountainous areas, with a slight rise in temperature.

Weather during Easter days
From Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday, the weather will generally include only a few local showers, mainly in the eastern regions, the northern Aegean, Crete, and mountainous areas. On Holy Thursday, instability will be somewhat more noticeable in Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, and eastern Central Greece.

In eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, eastern Central Greece, Evia, and the northern Aegean, clouds will be intermittently increased with local showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms in eastern Macedonia and Thrace during the afternoon. In the rest of the country, there will be occasional cloudiness with a chance of local showers, mainly during midday and afternoon hours in mainland mountainous areas and Crete. Light snowfall is expected in northern mountainous areas. Visibility in the morning hours, especially in western mainland areas, will be locally limited.

Winds will blow from northerly directions: in the west and south at 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally up to 7 in the northern Ionian, and in the rest of the country at 3 to 4 Beaufort, temporarily up to 5 in the northern Aegean in the morning.

Temperatures will drop, mainly in eastern and northern regions. In the northeast, they will not exceed 12–14°C, while in the rest of the country they will reach 15–18°C, and locally in southern mainland areas, Crete, and the Dodecanese 19–21°C.

Macedonia – Thrace
Clouds intermittently increased with local showers in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, intensifying after midday with isolated showers in the afternoon. Elsewhere, occasional cloudiness with light local showers improving from midday. Light snowfall in mountainous areas.
Winds: Northerly 3–4 Beaufort, locally up to 5 in coastal areas.
Temperature: 7–19°C, 3–4 degrees lower in western Macedonia and Thrace.

Ionian Islands – Epirus – Western Central Greece – Western Peloponnese
Generally clear with some local cloudiness inland and a chance of local showers, mainly in mountainous areas during midday–afternoon.
Winds: Northwesterly 4–5, locally 6–7 Beaufort in the Ionian.
Temperature: 12–19/20°C, lower inland in Epirus.

Thessaly – Eastern Central Greece – Evia – Eastern Peloponnese
Some clouds, occasionally increased, with local showers.
Winds: Easterly to northeasterly 3–4 Beaufort.
Temperature: 9–19/20°C.

Cyclades – Crete
Occasional cloudiness with a chance of local showers, mainly in Crete during midday–afternoon.
Winds: Northerly 3–4 Beaufort in the Cyclades; westerly 4–6 and locally up to 7 in southern Crete.
Temperature: 13–19/20°C, locally up to 21°C in Crete.

Winds: Northerly to northwesterly 3–4 Beaufort, temporarily 5 in the morning, becoming light and variable later.
Temperature: 10–17°C.
