Yiannis Panagopoulos has been re-elected president of the Greek General Confederation of Labour (GSEE) for another three-year term, following today’s meeting of the new administration that emerged from the elections of its 39th Congress.
A key change in the new leadership is the appointment of Antonis Karras, head of DAKE, as General Secretary. The position was previously held by Nikos Fotopoulos, who resigned from the GSEE board after his faction (EMEIS/ARKI) saw its representation reduced (from 3 to 2 seats), handing his seat to Kostas Genidounias.
It is recalled that PASKE emerged as the leading force, gaining one additional seat (20 seats in total) and reaching 42.8%. Yiannis Panagopoulos will continue to lead the GSEE—a position he is not expected to relinquish anytime soon, as his opponents comment, while cases concerning alleged misappropriation of EU funds and asset declarations remain pending with the prosecutor.
The GSEE presidium is composed as follows:
President: Ioannis Panagopoulos
Vice President: Evangelos Pallis

Executive Committee Members:
Despina Konstantinou
Konstantina Gkogaki
