Today, Friday May 15, marks the completion of the teaching year in high schools across the country, as students now move into the final phase of internal school examinations for the 2025–2026 academic year.
From Monday, May 18, promotion exams begin for 10th and 11th grade students in General High Schools (day and evening schools), lasting until June 12. The announcement of results for these two grades is expected to be completed no later than June 19.
At the same time, graduation exams for 12th-grade students in General High Schools, as well as Special Education schools, also begin on the same day. This examination period will conclude on May 25, while the final grades for graduating students are expected to be announced on May 27.
About the process
Exams in all high school grades will be conducted, as provided, using the “Bank of Exam Questions” system. Exam questions are drawn via electronic lottery from a dedicated platform, where each school must have uploaded its exam schedule a few days before exams begin. In addition, students and teachers have access to the examined syllabus for all grades of General High Schools (GEL), Vocational Schools (EPAL), and other types of high schools, as well as thousands of sample questions with model answers from the Question Bank, covering a total of 125 subjects.
The procedure provides that on each exam day, the school principal and responsible teachers draw the questions from the platform up to two hours before the exam, while for certain subjects—such as Modern Greek Language and Literature, Ancient Greek, and English—the draw takes place up to three hours earlier.
To address special cases, such as schedule changes due to student illness or technical issues during the electronic draw, the Ministry of Education has issued relevant guidelines.
It is also reminded that for 12th-grade candidates, the nationwide Panhellenic exams begin on May 29 for General High Schools and on May 30 for Vocational Schools.
