The founding declaration of the new party led by Maria Karystianou is expected to be presented next Thursday at the Olympion cinema theater, one of Thessaloniki’s landmark venues, while preparations within her team are reportedly in full swing.
Confirmation of the launch of her political initiative came — not coincidentally — late last night on social media from Maria Karystianou herself, reinforcing reports that the unveiling of her political movement is now imminent.
The symbols
Yesterday’s video, in which Karystianou is seen releasing a white dove, not only revealed the location and date of her new political step, but also offered a preview of what is expected to be said on Thursday, May 21, at the Olympion. In the invitation-style video, the former president of the Association of Relatives of the Tempi Victims releases a dove, which, according to reports, will become one of the central symbols of the new political organization.
It is worth noting that Karystianou’s team had previously chosen the image of a white dove emerging from an hourglass counting down on April Fools’ Day, when the “We Begin” movement was first made public. The word “hope” also reappeared in yesterday’s promotional spot as a key term in the path toward creating the new party.
Founding declaration – open invitation
According to reports, Thursday’s event in Thessaloniki will feature the presentation of the party’s founding declaration, which is expected to serve as a broad invitation to social forces while clearly outlining the ideological and political identity, principles, and goals of the new organization.
In this sense, the founding declaration is not expected to follow traditional political boundaries, but instead aims for broad, cross-sectional appeal — something Karystianou’s team appears to have identified through qualitative findings in opinion polls.
At the same time, many of the individuals expected to participate in the new political organization are anticipated to attend the event at the Olympion, though not all of them. As reported by protothema.gr, the initiative will also involve many Greeks living abroad. Another key goal for Karystianou’s team is to attract younger people who have not until now actively participated in the country’s political life.
