A clear message in favor of political stability, fiscal discipline, and support for citizens’ daily lives was delivered from Sparta by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while he also launched sharp criticism against the opposition for “toxicity” and cost-free promises.
“I have made a conscious choice not to engage in the corridors of opposition toxicity, but to try every day to make citizens’ lives a little better,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that citizens’ real concern is inflation and the hardships of everyday life, not the intensity of political news, noting that “media headlines do not align with citizens’ priorities.”
He said the government will continue to support society against inflation, without jeopardizing the country’s fiscal stability. “You will hear many promises and science-fiction scenarios. One thing I will not put at risk: the fiscal stability of the country,” he stated, adding that the surplus from growth will return to society as a “dividend of social progress.”
At the same time, Mitsotakis stressed the government’s credibility, saying citizens judge politicians based on consistency between words and actions and on what has been implemented from the 2023 commitments. He also referred to his continuous nationwide tours over the past seven years, stating he will continue to stay close to citizens.
From Sparta, he also announced the inclusion of nurses in heavy and hazardous occupations, while noting that the school renovation program will be named after the late Marietta Giannakou. He also made special reference to restoration works in Mystras, noting that it is the 29th archaeological site to be upgraded and delivered back to the public.
