Traffic regulations in the center of Athens for the 6th Run Bike Care, which roads are closed

Traffic restrictions will be in effect today, Sunday, June 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on roads in central Athens due to the cycling event titled “6th Run Bike Care Race,” organized by the Athens Association of Cancer Patients, Volunteers, Friends, and Doctors (K.E.F.I.) in anticipation of the upcoming World Cancer Survivors Day.

The race route will be as follows:

Syntagma Square (Start) – Filellinon Street – Vasilissis Amalias Avenue – Vasilissis Olgas Avenue – Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue – Vasilissis Sofias Avenue – Akadimias Street – Sina Street – Panepistimiou Street – Syntagma Square (Finish).

Traffic Restrictions

Traffic will be prohibited on:

  • Stadiou Street, along its entire length, as well as on connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Filellinon Street, along its entire length and its connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Syntagma Square.
  • Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, along its entire length and connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Syngrou Avenue, between Athanasiou Diakou Street and Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, in the direction toward Syntagma Square.
  • Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, along its entire length and connecting streets up to the first parallel road, in the direction toward Syntagma Square.
  • Panepistimiou Street (Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue), between Vasilissis Amalias Avenue and Hippokratous Street, including connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Akadimias Street, between Charilaou Trikoupi Street and Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, including connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, between Vasilissis Amalias Avenue and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue, in both directions, including connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, between Zacharoff Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue, in the direction toward Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.
  • Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue, along its entire length and connecting streets up to the first parallel road, in the direction toward Ardittou Street.
  • Irodou Attikou Street, along its entire length and connecting streets up to the first parallel road.
  • Meleagrou Street, between Hesiodou Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.
  • Aravantinou Street, between Hesiodou Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.
  • Kleanthous Street, between Vasileos Georgiou II Street and Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.

Permitted Crossing Points

Crossing the race route will generally be prohibited during the hours when traffic restrictions are in effect. However, vehicle crossings will be allowed at the following controlled intersections:

  • Vasilissis Sofias Avenue – Rigillis Street
  • Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue – Vasileos Georgiou II Street

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is urging drivers to avoid these roads, avenues, and squares during the specified hours in order to minimize inconvenience and prevent additional traffic congestion.
