Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is currently speaking at a special anniversary event organized by the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence.
The event, titled “6 years of gov.gr: Click and it’s done!”, is being held at Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens in Gazi.
It presents the achievements of the digital platform, which has radically changed citizens’ daily lives and access to public services, as well as the next steps planned with the integration of new technologies and artificial intelligence tools into the state.
At the event, the evolution of gov.gr was presented, aimed at upgraded service for citizens and businesses. It was emphasized at the event that, for the first time, there is personalized information, including users’ appointments and the services they frequently access, similar to an e-commerce platform.
Citizens now have unified multichannel service, whether they contact a KEP citizen service center, or GOV, or by phone, or via chatbot. In the future, service will also be provided through voice recognition. In addition, campaigns such as those for Youth.gr will be run through the CRM system.
“The fact that we have proven that with the use of technology the state can change substantially,” said the Prime Minister, referring to a technology that serves the citizen. “The way technology is implemented has an ideological dimension; it treats citizens equally and allows people in remote areas to be served by the state,” he added.
“Behind every inconvenience for the citizen there may be a source of corruption. As the state becomes both more impersonal and more user-friendly, this changes. The way technology is applied has an ideological impact. It gives opportunities to all citizens. Technology is an opportunity for Greece not only to catch up with the rest of Europe, but to lead. We proved this, for example, with the vaccination certificate during the pandemic,” Mr. Mitsotakis said.
“We would not have achieved this without this ministry and without fostering a culture of cooperation with other ministries,” he added.

Papastergiou: Gov.gr is proof that the state can change
The impact of the six years of gov.gr, as well as the next steps in the digital transformation of the state, was presented by the Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, Dimitris Papastergiou, at the event.
The minister stressed that the success of gov.gr is not reflected only in numbers, but mainly in the change it has brought to the daily life of citizens and public servants.
“What we have just seen are the results of the first six years of operation. Citizens who have gained the right not to go to a public service office, and public employees who do their work with less pressure and more security. Together they are moving toward a new relationship of trust with the state,” he said.
As he noted, gov.gr began as “a major reform of trust” and has now become tangible proof that the Greek state can evolve and become more effective.
“Today it is proof that the state can change, evolve, respect the citizen’s time, become more digital and more efficient. The citizen no longer needs to know where a public service is located, whether the protocol office is on the first floor or the ground floor, or whether the director has signed something. They simply know the service is there and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
