Oman and Iran will form a committee to reach an agreement on the “management of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz” and on related costs and services, according to a joint statement by the two countries.
“The two countries will hold talks with coastal states and other interested parties,” the joint statement reads.
Earlier, the Omani news agency reported that, following talks held in Muscat, the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the Strait of Hormuz as a safe and open sea lane for international shipping.
At the same time, they emphasized the importance of continuing their cooperation to strengthen maritime security, freedom of navigation, and stability in the region.
