Thunderstorms, lightning, squalls and possible hail are expected in Greece over the next 48 hours, mainly affecting mainland areas during the warmest part of the day, according to protothema.gr meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias.
Most islands, however, are expected to retain summer weather conditions.
Today, Thursday 25 June, rain and scattered thunderstorms are forecast from midday, mainly in western Greece, the Peloponnese, Central Greece, Epirus and western Macedonia.
Temperatures will reach 32C to 33C on the mainland, in Crete and in the Dodecanese, while in the Ionian and Cyclades they are not expected to exceed 28C.
Winds will be light in the Ionian, while northerly winds in the Aegean will reach up to 6 Beaufort locally.
In Attica, generally clear weather is forecast. Winds will blow from the north at up to 5 Beaufort, with temperatures ranging from 21C to 32C.
In Thessaloniki, local showers are possible from midday. Northwesterly winds in the Thermaic Gulf will reach 4 Beaufort, while temperatures will rise to 32C.
Weather outlook for the coming days
On Friday, significant instability will persist across most mainland areas. Temperatures are not expected to change significantly, while northerly winds in the Aegean will strengthen, reaching 7 Beaufort.
Over the weekend, rain is expected to be limited mainly to northern Greece, temperatures will drop slightly and winds in the Aegean will strengthen further, reaching up to 8 Beaufort.
