Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a clear message that Greece has left its period of economic crisis behind and entered a new era of stability and growth, speaking at an event organised by The Hellenic Initiative, a nonprofit organisation supporting Greek economic and social development, held at the Acropolis Museum.

The Prime Minister placed particular emphasis on the significant fall in unemployment in recent years, noting that a growing number of Greeks living abroad are choosing to return home, having found meaningful career opportunities and prospects for advancement.

Turning to the Greek economy, Prime Minister Mitsotakis said the country has restored its public finances, adding that Greece recorded the fastest reduction in public debt among countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Paris-based intergovernmental body that promotes economic progress among its members.

“For the first time, I can say that macroeconomic stability is no longer a problem for Greece,” he stated.

Mr Mitsotakis thanked The Hellenic Initiative for its long-standing support for the country, as well as for its role in maintaining and strengthening ties between the Greek diaspora and Greece.

He also highlighted the digital transformation of the public sector, noting that digital reforms have made the government more efficient, more transparent and more citizen-friendly.

The Prime Minister further stressed that Greece has fundamentally changed, having learned from the mistakes of the past and invested in its most important asset: its people.

Concluding his remarks, he reiterated that the next national elections will be held at the end of the government’s constitutionally mandated term.
