In a statement, Vasilis Kokkalis announced that he is relinquishing his parliamentary seat, describing his choice as “clear and deliberate” and noting that it was dictated by the political circumstances that have arisen.

He had announced his decision the previous week, on July 17, “out of a sense of responsibility toward the citizens of Larissa,” emphasizing that the current political circumstances do not allow him to continue performing his parliamentary duties.

“This decision was not an easy one. It is, however, clear and deliberate, as the political circumstances that have arisen do not allow me to continue in Parliament pretending that nothing has changed,” he stated.

“I will continue to fight with the same determination, from other fronts, within society and alongside those who are fighting for dignity and justice.”
