The Queen of Pop Madonna chose Greece for this year’s summer holiday, basing herself in Corfu, where she celebrated her 68th birthday alongside the rest of her family, enthusiastically embracing a modern Greek custom in the process.

“It’s my birthday!” she wrote in a post on her personal Instagram account, where she encouraged her fans to dance, smash plates and feed cats.
One of the photographs in the carousel she posted shows the floor covered in broken plates, a classic Greek tradition that clearly made quite an impression on her, while another photo features a cat that happened to be at the event (and whose place many of us would happily take).

For her Dionysian-style birthday celebrations, Madonna chose to wear a printed Dolce & Gabbana dress in pink and light blue, with gold appliqué detailing and satin roses. She completed the look with a striking floral headpiece, before later changing into a semi-sheer lace dress, in which she was photographed walking through a vineyard late at night.
A live band played guitar music at the party, and the birthday girl blew out the candles on a heart-shaped cake decorated with a giant blue evil eye.

The birthday provided the occasion for her whole family to gather, namely Lourdes Leon, Rocco Ritchie, Mercy James, Stella and Estere, while it is thought that her son David was also present, simply not appearing in the snapshots, and likely on photography duty instead.
