The travel document was located in Galatsi Grove and is being examined at forensic laboratories, while her mobile phone had previously been found at a different location

A new discovery in Galatsi Grove has become the focus of the investigation into the disappearance of 50-year-old Chinese translator Yu Ting. Her passport was reportedly found cut into thin strips, with its condition suggesting it had been exposed to the elements and sunlight for an extended period.

The travel document was located as the case approaches the four-month mark since the 50-year-old’s disappearance. She was last seen on 20 May 2026 in Artemida, where she lived with her Greek husband.

The state in which the passport was found is thought to indicate that it had remained at the site for a considerable length of time. The item has been handed over to forensic laboratories, where it is being examined to confirm its identity with certainty.

At the same time, a search was carried out in the Galatsi area, with authorities looking for any further evidence that could be linked to Yu Ting’s disappearance.

Particular significance has been placed on the fact that the passport was found in a different area from the 50-year-old’s mobile phone, which had previously been traced to central Athens.

The investigation into Yu Ting’s disappearance remains fully under way, with Greek and Chinese authorities, as well as Interpol, working to gather evidence that could shed light on what happened to her.

Investigators are also examining the route she is believed to have followed along Patission Street, near Amerikis Square. This is where her last known trace was recorded, making the area of particular interest to the investigation.

Among the evidence added to the case file is a recent statement given by a woman from Thessaloniki. The witness is reported to know individuals who may be connected to the 50-year-old’s disappearance.
