All options appear to remain open regarding Kimberly Guilfoyle’s future in Athens, following recent remarks by US President Donald Trump that her removal from the post of US ambassador to Greece was “under consideration”.
Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis told Naftemporiki TV, among other things, that the Foreign Ministry had received no such request.
Commenting on Kimberly Guilfoyle, Pavlos Marinakis said: “We have no comment to make on either statements or media reports; besides, no decision has been taken. We continue to maintain the highest possible level of cooperation with our strategic ally, the United States. The visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphatically confirmed, in practice, what we have been saying.”
“Following a briefing from the Foreign Ministry, I can confirm that there is currently no such request, nor has anything been discussed with the Greek authorities,” he added.
He concluded: “We are monitoring developments and continuing to work at the highest level with US diplomats, the ambassador and the US administration’s choices.”
