More than 6,000 migrants, who arrived illegally at the Greek island of Lesvos after the implementation of EU – Turkey agreement on March 20, are trapped on the island and are trying to leave using every possible way so as to continue their journey to their final destination.

According to lesvosnews.gr, most of them have acquired a document that suspends indefinitely their deportation until they get a final decision on their asylum application.

However, three months have passed since the implementation of the EU-Turkey deal, and only one final decision has been ruled concerning the deportation of a Syrian. But, even that one decision cannot be executed because the illegal migrant has been released and disappeared.

Therefore, the stranded migrants are trying to leave Lesvos and hide inside the trucks and lorries which travel from the island to Piraeus port in Athens.

Authorities on the island carry out thorough checks and every day they find migrants who are hiding inside the trucks.

lesvosnews.gr published a video showing authorities checking the trucks and arresting the migrants they find inside the vehicles.
