Heating oil prices are to be lowered at around 85 cents per litre kickstarting a warmer winter season that officially kicks off on October 15 in Greece this year. Providers state that the price will be affordable provided that the consumption tax remains at last year’s levels. If that is the case, then heating oil will be significantly lower than last year’s levels that were at 1-1.1 euros per liter. The drop is the result of a decline in global oil prices.
Meanwhile, the heating oil allowance for low income earners is still up in the air. The deal with Greece’s international creditors (EC, ECB, IMF and ESM) provides for a 50% reduction.
