International Monetary Fund (IMF) Communications Director Gerry Rice said that the IMF has had good cooperation with the Greek government on the current program review. During a press conference on Thursday, he said that the country should receive debt relief if the IMF were to participate in Greece’s new program. He said that representatives had participated in the review that had recently been conducted in Athens and said that the country’s program expires in March.
He said that bank recapitalization cannot be discussed until the ECB’s stress tests come through but said that it is in everyone’s interests for Greek banks to be adequately capitalized.
