Greek Parliament tabled a draft bill on Wednesday legislating 48 prior actions that Greece and its lenders (EC, ECB, ESM, IMF) have agreed upon before the country can receive a 2-bn-euro tranche benchmarked for Greece, as well as 10 billion euros needed to recapitalize Greek banks.
Measures included in the bill replace the tax revenues that were to have been yielded from a controversial 23% VAT hike on private schools. These include an extra fee (5 cents extra for 13 games) in state lottery forms as well as special consumer taxes on wine (49 cents/litre). The government hopes to yield at least 350-450 mln euros from gambling and another 110 mln euros from Greek wine.
In other provisions, home owners are no longer obliged to pay tax on rent that has not been collected as long as a court order has been issued against the renter. There will also be an extension to the repayment period for each installment of the 100-installment payment plan.
The new bill also makes administerial changes, such as placing limits to the term of office to be held by the head of the general secretariat for public revenue from five years to a two-year limitation.
