The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) issued an international call for tenders in one phase for a group of real estate properties to be developed into boutique hotels.
The group includes 14 unused properties, as follows:
– Eight selected former Xenia hotels (these used to be part of a nation-wide programme to improve tourism infrastructure in the 1960s and 1970s and most of them are listed for architectural value)
– Three traditional mansions at Pelion (Xiradaki, Mousli, Evangelinaki)
– Two former sanitariums (“Mana” in Vytina and “St. Eleoussa” on Rhodes island)
– The Villa de Vecchi on Rhodes, a historic building
In an announcement, HRADF said, “These properties can be developed either individually or in combination, creating geographically differentiated portfolia of properties appropriate to tourism and recreation purposes. Further, it is expected that additional investments will be implemented that will contribute to the upgrading of the country’s tourist product with the development of boutique hotels.”
The tendering is expected to be completed within 2014.
