"The risk of panic and injury in these sites and others is real," says UNHCR spokeswoman

Newsroom April 1 04:23

More than 5,350 refugees and immigrants are staying in the passenger terminals of Greece’s biggest port, Piraeus, creating a suffocating situation which after the recent violent incidents has been out of control. About 300 people have already been transferred in Ilia and Ioannina, but on Friday the refugees were reluctant to go to refugee centers outside Attica district.

Moreover, the representatives of Piraeus municipality who had been helping the refugees since the moment they got to Piraeus decided to leave the place, due to the violent incidents broke out last Tuesday.
