Clashes broke out between Golden Dawn party supporters and far-left and anti-fascist groups when their members came face to face during two rallies organised an hour apart near Korais Square in Piraeus, Friday. The Golden Dawn party held a rally in protest over the refugee crisis at 6pm, while the anti-fascist, solidarity groups held their an hour earlier (5pm) in favour of refugees. At some point during the rallies supporters on both sides confronted each other and scuffles broke out. The situation got out of control and police intervened through the use of sound and light grenades managing to contain the situation. A Golden Dawn supporter can be seen attacking a camera operator and a reporter from Channel E. Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris can be seen in one of the videos at his party’s rally.
