The Greek government tries to ensure the vote of its MPs promising that there will be a “final solution to the Greek issue, with debt relief and return to economic growth”, since the omnibus bill, that includes the last prior actions requested by the lenders to conclude program review, is submitted to the plenum.
On Friday, the omnibus bill was approved in principle and by majority in the relevant parliamentary committees with SYRIZA and the Independent Greeks (ANEL) voting in favour, while all the opposition parties voted against it.
On Saturday the bill submitted to the plenum and it is expected to be voted on Sunday afternoon.
The government now builds its hopes on international processes for an agreement on the debt, which it will display as a “counterweight” to austerity measures that the omnibus bill is bringing, including indirect taxes of 1.8 billion euros, privatizations, selling performing and non-performing loans to funds.
