The situation is out of control in many refugee centers where about 54,000 stranded refugees and migrants are staying, as the video released by Middle East Eye proves.
According to the organization, the violent incident occurred between Syrian and Afghan men on May 10 at Moria camp on the Greek island of Lesvos with no apparent reason. Tensions have been high in the camp since it became a detention center after an agreement signed between EU and Turkey, as MEE reports.
In the video, men of both nationalities fight and throw stones at each other, while only one police officer is present at that moment who is talking on his phone.
In the meantime, the situation in the makeshift refugee camp at Idomeni is also out of control, since the government has failed to complete the transfer of the refugees and migrants to proper facilities.
Idomeni’s camp has been turned into a ghetto, while drug dealing and prostitution has become an everyday phenomenon. The government, though, has said that it plans to evacuate the area in the next two weeks. However, it is uncertain whether it has an operational plan, while the facilities designed do not satisfy the refugees who prefer to stay in Idomeni and seek ways to pass borders and continue their journey to Europe.
