The publisher of Greek newspaper ‘Acropolis’, Panayiotis Mavrikos died in a horrific car accident n Attica Highway towards Elefsina, Thursday. Police pulled out the charred body from a Porsche Cayenne in the municipality of Heraklion in Attica. Based on the highway traffic video footage the vehicle seemed to be moving along its lane then stopped. Suddenly the car appears to burst into flames. The car is registered to his wife, who was called to the hospital to identify the corpse. Eyewitnesses say the driver was trapped in the car when it went up in flames. It is not clear what the cause of the fire was, with some speculating it could have been a bomb. Meahwnile, the lawyer of Panayiotis Mavrikos, Alexis Kougias says the body belongs to his client.
