From Brussels, where he attended a meeting of the European Parliament Members of the European United Left, Jean-Claude Juncker criticized the Troika and the injustices in tax legislation.
Referring particularly to Greece and in reply to a question by SYRIZA MEP, Manolis Glezos, on the status of Greek economy, Juncker referred to the responsibilities of the national governments, saying that he was not the one who created corruption in the member states of the eurozone, nor the one who recommended that the Greek tycoons should be exempt from taxes.
He acknowledged that there was a problem of democratic legitimacy regarding the Troika decisions, adding that he objected in the past to the participation of the IMF in the assistance programs.
As regards the Cyprus issue, he said that its solution is sought mainly in the UN framework.
