Greek pole vault champion Katerina Stefanidi soared above 4.81m to win the gold medal in the 2016 Amsterdam European Athletics Championships. Stefanidi, who has a personal indoor best of 4.90 and an outdoor record of 4.84 attempted to pass 4.94m after she had won the gold, but failed. The 26-year old set a new games record with the 4.81m. ‘I am ecstatic that I managed to win gold and better Isinbayeva’s record at the games.
