Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Greek PM Alexis Tsipras had reassured him Greece would extradite the eight pro-coup rebel military servicemen, who had landed in Greece on Saturday and requested political asylum, within the next fortnight. Erdogan and Tsipras spoke on the phone, Saturday, with the matter of the eight military asylum applicants at the centre of their conversation. Speaking to media from his house in Istanbul, Erdogan also said he would send a letter to the US demanding the extradition of Fetulla Gulen, a political figure and religious teachers who is in self exile in the US. Erdogan has accused Gulen of being behind the failed coup military attempt, something the self-exiled political figure had denied, alleging the coup was a ruse by the Turkish President to appear as the defender of democracy and gain a stronger hold on the country. Erdogan expressed his thanks to Greek PM Tsipras for his support to the democratically elected government.
