The Norwegian version of Zeus, God of Thunder Thor will become a woman in the new Marvel comic series to be released in October, according to an official announcement of Marvel! This change was dubbed by Marvel as “one of the most shocking and exciting changes ever to shake one of Marvel’s ‘big three’- Captain America, Iron Man and Thor.”
“No longer is the classic male hero able to hold the mighty hammer, Mjolnir. A brand new female hero will emerge who will be worthy of the name Thor,” said Marvel’s announcement. Marvel editor Will Ross stated later on the company’s website: “The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription.”
“This is not She-Thor,” Jason Aaron, the series writer, said in the statement. “This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is Thor. This is the Thor of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before.”
It should be noted that Thor, the God of Thunder, was famously played by Chris Hemsworth in the films “Thor: The Dark World” (2013) and “The Avengers” (2012).
