Suspected terrorist Nikos Maziotis hideout was discovered at Marousi

The owner of the apartment recognized him from the suspected terrorist's fake id that was released to the media and called the authorities

Newsroom July 18 02:20

A secluded apartment on the fifth floor of a building located at 27 Ypsilantou Str., at the Pefki-Marousi borders, was Nikos Maziotis’ hideout, which  he managed to rent using another fake identity card, and not the one with the name “Mihalis Mihelakis”.

The owner of the apartment recognized the suspected terrorist  from the fake id that was released to the media and called the Greek counter-terrorism unit, which immediately sealed the building.

The unit has not yet begun to search the hideout for evidence, as the apartment must be first examined by experts of the Greek EOD department, in order to make sure that the terrorist hasn’t booby-trapped the entrance with explosives.

The police will then try to open the door using the four keys found on Maziotis at the moment of his arrest. For the time being, it remains unknown whether the arrestee’s partner, Pola Roupa was living with the suspected terrorist and their child in this apartment, as it is rumored.

The police had focused their investigation on Maroussi and the surrounding areas because Maziotis had on him, at the time of his arrest, a receipt from a store that is located on The Mall shopping center, which was issued an hour before the shootout at Monastiraki.

The footage from the security cameras showed the arrestee boarding  the train at Marousi station to arrive at Omonia almost half an hour later.
