According to Shin Bet (the Israeli Security Agency), the police arrested the 39-year-old Muhammad Murtaja in February on his way to Gaza where he is the coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA).

The investigation revealed that he had been recruited in 2008 by Hamas and he was especially focused on funneling funds intended for humanitarian aid to the Palestinian organization.

He had also helped Hamas to hide weapons and ammunition even to his own house.
