Mr. Avramopoulos will resign from his parliamentary seat, which will now take the first runner-up Mr. Athanasios Plevris.

In a statement to protothema.gr Mr. Plevris congratulated Mr. Avramopoulo and wished him success in his difficult task as Commissioner of the European Commission.

Further, Mr. Plevris states to protothema.gr that he is happy to any position that his political party wants him to support and he will fight all the same
