A decision by the Legal Council of State is proceeding in a move to allow the Greek Tax Authority to enter houses or businesses in order to seek “hot money” or confiscate any other information they deem fit. The decision was issued with a majority of 14-10 votes by the Legal Council in response to a question by the Finance Ministry.
Greek daily newspaper, Ethnos, reports that tax investigators will now be able to proceed in U.S. IRS-styled investigations without the prosecutor’s presence. Furthermore, the Legal Council of State has given the “green” light for tax investigators to confiscate money or other things of value.
