The alert over the two suspicious briefcases in front of the Greek Finance Ministry has ended after it was determined they contained nothing dangerous. Traffic has been restored.

Earlier, police had blocked off all streets surrounding the Finance Ministry building in downtown Athens on the corner of Nikkis and Mitropoleos streets, after two suspicious briefcases were spotted outside.

The special bomb disposal unit was called on the scene to check the content of the briefcases.
