The Vice-President and leader of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos did not clarify the position of PASOK towards the election of President of Hellenic Republic, but he sent a clear message about his intentions on the issue and triggered different scenarios from those that had been presented so far.
During a press conference in TIF Mr. Venizelos revealed PASOK’s intention to vote for President of the Hellenic Republic a person who might even come from a center-right party.
It should be noted that all discussions and scenarios that had been revealed so far concerned the possibility that the next President of the Hellenic Republic would come from a center-left party.
Mr. Venizelos avoided to comment reporters’ questions on the possible candidacy of Fotis Kouvelis and Maria Damanaki, but he made clear that his party would vote for a person who is “a democrat, a decent man, who would be a symbol of unity and represent Greece abroad” despite the party he might belong to.
