German Chancellor Angela Merkel has lost about 20 pounds since January, after her doctors advised her to follow a diet with fruits and vegetables, according to today’s “Bild” newspaper publication.
When the 59 year old head of Europe’s biggest economy suffered a fractured pelvis in a skiing accident, doctors advised her to leave out snacks with bread, cheese and raw meats.
So Merkel now has snacks eating carrots, leeks and red, yellow and green peppers.
“She is very disciplined” writes “Bild”, citing a source close to the Chancellor. “She eats more fruit”.
According to a report in the journal “Bunte”, invoking the German newspaper “Die Welt” Merkel’s dishes in the White House adapted well to her nutritional program.
