Drag Queen story Hour in Thessaloniki for children causes strong reactions (photo)

The action was part of the Pride Month in Thessaloniki

Newsroom June 27 04:02

The Municipality of Thessaloniki permitted the organisation of a Drag Queen Story Hour at Navarinou Square on Thursday, where drag queens read stories to children.

The initiative, which was adopted as part of Thessaloniki Pride, has provoked a backlash as many find it unacceptable claiming it sexualises children at a very sensitive age and exposes them to an issue they are not ready to grasp yet.

The action took place last Thursday, June 23, in Navarinou Square, where children, as seen in the photo, are listening to fairy tales read out by Drag Queens, sitting in front of the colourful flag of the LGBTQ.

In the public promo on social networks, the organisers wrote “another fairy tale lady”, with the hashtag, children are the future.

The NGO, “Rainbow School” organises activities for same-sex couples and same-sex families with children and tries to raise awareness and propagate diversity among minors, even from infancy.

The question arises of whether the organisers of such actions are likely to push other initiatives, similar to the ones in the US where children danced on catwalks with grown men in women’s clothes.
