On Thursday the mayor of Piraeus Mr. Yiannis Moralis met with the Minister of environment Energy and Climate Change Mr. Yiannis Maniatis, in order to present municipality’s development proposal plan by utilizing the action of the new ESPA 2014-2020 “Integrated Spatial Development” (Intergraded Territorial Investment / ITT)).

Mr. Moralis among others highlighted that the exploitation of the tool under the name “Integrated Territorial Investment (ITT)” by the municipality  is a great challenge and perhaps the only realistic approach to the implementation of a complex development planning, which will help in addressing environmental problems and promote important and large-scale projects as well as  urban regeneration which is much needed in the city of Piraeus.

He further noted that all projects will contribute to the aesthetic regeneration of Piraeus and will give new breath of life in the city, while will significantly improve the quality of life of its citizens.

From his side Mr. Maniatis stated that already the Ministry is in process of examining the Intervention Plan for Piraeus, while he agreed on the need to further examine and study the development plan of the city.

As a result, there will be created joint working groups which will promptly begin to prepare a framework for the promotion of any necessary procedures for the implementation of the program by ESPA.

Finally, the meeting concluded with a mutual  agreement, that the Ministry should assist and support the Piraeus municipality and promote the required studies for projects and initiatives in order for everything to run smoothly and fast.
