According to the British Foreign Office in London, the British national, David Bolam who was held hostage by Islamists in Libya, was released by his kidnappers.
“David Bolam is safe and in good health and has been reunited with his family” said the British Foreign Office, without giving any further details.
He was a teacher and an executive member at the European School in Benghazi in eastern Libya and he was abducted back on the 19th of May. According to a source at the school the kidnappers had demanded a ransom for his release. Previously another American teacher of the school was murdered last December.
American website that monitors Islamist websites (SITE) identified a posted video on YouTube where David Bolam was asking the British Prime Minister David Cameron to help of his release. Apparently the video was recorded last August and it was published by a group calling itself the Army of Islam. However, the American website SITE was not able to verify the videos authenticity due to lack of information.
Since after the overthrow and the death of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya submerged in chaos and surrendered to the militia.
Benghazi, which once was the main base of the uprising against Gaddafi stronghold of radical Islamist groups, is now a place for fighting and killing members of the security forces, activists and journalists.
