SYRIZA expels MP Polakis after his egregious attack on high-profile journalists and Judges

Polakis targeted 33 journalists and judges as well as systemic bankers calling them "the deep state"

Newsroom February 26 03:14

Major opposition party SYRIZA has expelled MP Pavlos Polakis following the former Minister’s egregious post on Facebook where he targeted 33 high-profile journalists and judges saying if his party came to power these figures would have to be purged.

The MP of Chania unleashed unprecedented threats against 33 judges, journalists, bankers, and the head of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), whom he calls the deep state, and asks his companions to take measures to “purge from them…”.

“SYRIZA has a program and policy that have been approved by its convention. It also has principles of operation that are characterised by democracy, collectivity and provide for the defence and not the undermining of its policy by its members, and much more so by the leadership staff,” sources from Koumoundourou state.

“Anyone who thinks they can carve out their own policy, shape ballots and impose their own private agenda, with constant postings and ignoring party principles and policy, has obviously consciously decided to put themselves out of the electoral fray,” the same sources said.

SYRIZA has for the first time made it clear that Pavlos Polakis “has obviously consciously decided to put himself out of the electoral battle”. Sources close to the party state that recently the positions of Pavlos Polakis were out of sync with the official party line, despite their warnings to him.

In addition, his posts became the object of political exploitation by political opponents of SYRIZA, with the result that public opinion is disoriented from the central positions and views of the official opposition, which is making a great effort to harmonise its positions, in view of the national elections.
