The finance ministry on Saturday categorically denied press reports that the EU-IMF troika was imposing terms on Greece in order to discuss easing the country’s debt burden, calling the reports completely untrue.
“The only conditions set by our partners are outlined in the decisions of the Eurogroup of November 27, 2012 and those of the Eurogroup of May 5, 2014. According to these, provided a primary surplus has been achieved and the programme is on track, then our partners, as they have promised, will take the necessary measures to ease the debt. Everything thing else is just stories,” a finance ministry announcement said.
