Is Tsitsipas in free fall? He has lost 7 of his last 11 matches

His goal is to make the ATP Finals in Turin but he needs some points to make it

Newsroom September 20 11:14

Stefanos Tsitsipas is going through a tough spell in his career as the numbers clearly bear out.

The top Greek tennis player who has reached the No. 3 in the world rankings and has played in two Grand Slam finals in early August (5/8) won the tournament in Los Cabos (Mexico) and then had 7 losses in his 11 matches!

Both on the ATP Tour and in the Davis Cup with the Greek national team. The matches are in doubles and singles. In fact, all three losses are to players who are now outside the top 100! After Los Cabos, he lost in Toronto to Gaël Monfils who was then ranked #276.

From Canada, he travelled to the USA and Cincinnati. There he initially beat Shelton in the singles but lost to Hurkacz, while in the doubles he and Fokina would be eliminated by Arevalo/Roger.

Next up was the US Open where he beat Milos Raonic (#337) in the 1st round but would fall victim to an upset in the 2nd round as he was eliminated by Switzerland’s Dominic Stricker who is ranked #128 and making his first main draw Grand Slam appearance.

In doubles, he played with his brother Petros and they had a win and a loss. The action continued at the Panathinaikos Stadium and the Davis Cup matches between Greece and Slovakia.

On the first day, he beat Klein who retired due to injury in the 3rd set (1-1 and 4-0 Stefanos) while on Sunday he lost the doubles with Petros Tsitsipas to Klein and Zelenai.

The Greek tennis player did not rest at all and continued to play in the singles. There he faced Alex Molchan (No. 113) and was defeated 2-1 and as a result, Greece crashed out of the Cup.

His personal life, due to his relationship with Bandosa, may be at its best but in… tennis, he has had a big slump and wants to recover in the next few days in China and then in the closed tournaments in Europe.

Of course, his goal is to make the ATP Finals in Turin but he needs some points to make it.
