Alexei Navalny’s body has not been transferred to the only morgue in Salehard, the city closest to the penal colony where the 47-year-old Russian opposition leader died yesterday (Friday), his group said.

Navalny’s spokeswoman, Kira Yarmish, wrote on Platform X that a lawyer and his mother, Liudmila Navalny, arrived at the morgue where they were referred by prison authorities.
But the morgue was closed, although the prison assured them that it was open and that the body was there.
The lawyer called the number posted on the door.
He was answered that it was the seventh person he was calling today and that “Alexei’s body was not at the morgue,” he added.
Alexei Navalny’s spokesperson confirmed this morning that the Russian opposition leader had died and he said that his body is with investigators. Kira Yarmysh demanded that the body should immediately be handed over to his family.
Navalny’s wife, Yulia, blamed Putin for her husband’s death and said the world should unite against Moscow’s “horrible regime”.
