The 21st International Simulation Conference of the United Nations, ThessISMUN, will be held at PAMAK from May 8 to May 12, 2024 where 200 students from Greece and abroad will participate.
The 21st International Simulation Conference of the United Nations bodies and other international organisations, Thessaloniki International Student Model United Nations – ThessISMUN (www.thessismun.org), will be held at the University of Macedonia from Wednesday, May 8, to Sunday, May 12. 200 students from universities in Greece and abroad are expected to participate.

ThessISMUN is a simulation exercise of the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, as well as regional organisations such as the Council of Europe, during which participants discuss current issues of international institutions such as international law and politics, economic and social matters, and human rights protection, environmental issues. The purpose of the exercise is to familiarise students with topics discussed in international forums, develop dialogue, argue in favor of the positions of the countries they represent, make decisions through consensus through mutual concessions, and realise the need for international cooperation to establish peace in the world.
The conference is organised this year with the support of the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Europe in Greece and is also participating in the campaign to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The simulation of the is widespread in many countries, while in Greece it has become a tradition at the University of Macedonia since 2002, enjoying the support of professors of International Law and International Institutions from all universities in Greece.
It is noted that during the opening ceremony of the conference on May 8, 2024, at 18:00, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Michael Psalidopoulos, will be honored, who served as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund during the period 2015-2020.
