The Ministry of Digital Governance is trying to put an end to the bureaucracy and the inconvenience from service to service for the processing of even a simple task. As “THEMA” reveals today, everything is changing in Gov.gr Wallet, which no longer enriches the way it is used, but also adds a series of new information: in addition to identification documents, in the digital wallet we will have them available at any time from our properties and insurance capacity to our driving license penalty points, blood donation card, boat operator’s license and even our pet details!
But that is not all. The planning of the ministry wants the citizens to give approval through the wallet to the agencies, public and private, so that they can draw from the State registers the necessary data in order to complete a process. In practice, this means that citizens will give their consent through their digital wallet for the organizations they interact with to pull the data from public registries.
So, if someone wants, for example, to change their mobile phone provider, they will simply contact the company they want and receive a notification on Gov.gr Wallet: “For the contract you wish to conclude, the following information is required. Do you consent to them being given?’ All he will need to do is consent by clicking on the yes – no option and the process will be completed without the need to collect documents from a number of services and send them.

What new it brings and how many people use it
The Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, told “THEMA” that his vision is to gather all the necessary documents in one state source, so that the citizen does not have to be bothered by the services by presenting certificates with which he will have to prove in writing and that it has been born!
The point of renewing and adding more elements to the digital wallet is not only the convenience of citizens, who will no longer need to carry a series of identification documents with them but will have them all immediately and easily accessible in the object that probably everyone they always have with them: the mobile phone. It is also the acceleration of the digitization of the Government (and not only) through the transfer of data through the Gov.gr Wallet. Now, with the renewed digital wallet, citizens are given the possibility to request the extraction of their personal data from the information systems and applications of the State bodies to carry out any transaction with a public or private sector body, after having previously given their consent.
In this way, the circulation of documents between citizens and services or even between services is even more limited, thanks to the new possibilities provided by Gov.gr Wallet, the application that has been downloaded by 1,683,129 citizens on their mobile phones and which has the necessary documents stored. To date, the police ID, driver’s license, digital card of the Public Employment Service (DYPA), car file (MyAuto), academic ID, ring card, and disability card are available in the wallet. From April 9, the entrance ticket for the stadiums was added to the digital wallet.

This vision of breaking the bureaucracy served by Gov.gr Wallet seems to be embraced by more and more Greeks. And because the numbers tell the truth, by the last day of May, 1,396,824 identity cards, 1,153,681 driver’s licenses, 19,403 digital disability cards, 60,177 digital unemployment cards (DYPA), 473,733 vehicle details (MyAuto ), 32,494 academic IDs and 32,069 ring permits.
So, since the digital wallet has been accepted by the citizens, the time has come for it to open and accept more data inside it. Let’s see one by one what these will be and how they will appear in the wallet:
Driving license penalty points
The Driver Behavior Control System (CBS) is inserted into the wallet. With the new update the penalty points will be displayed in the digital wallet and in the diploma section. When someone downloads their diploma, they will be able to see the points they have.
Point System will be written in red and the number of points will be displayed. In full view, in the lower right corner of the license holder’s photo, a number will appear in red characters which will be the penalty points.
Pets
The ministry introduces the MyPet platform to the Gov.gr Wallet for pets. The platform provides a new identification card for companion animals, including a photo and basic details such as species, microchip, gender, sterilized and vaccinated status, vaccination date, and QR code for scanning.
Citizens’ Properties
Citizens will now be able to access the full details of their properties at any time through their digital wallet. Initially, only properties registered in the land registry will be visible.
The property card will display the address and the municipality in which it is located. Below, it will show the owner’s (or co-owners) name, the National Land Registry Code (KAEK), and the property’s area in square meters. Additional information, such as the ENFIA tax paid, electricity and water supply numbers, and the acquisition title, will also be available on the same card. Citizens with multiple properties will be able to view their details in the digital wallet app by scrolling, with each property appearing on a different card, side by side.
Insurance Capacity
The wallet will provide the insured status and all related information. This card will display complete details, including the Social Security Registry Number (AMKA), the insurance provider, whether the citizen is insured or retired, the AMKA from which the insurance or pension rights are derived, and other useful information.
Speedboat Operator’s License
The speedboat operator’s license will soon be added to the Gov.gr Wallet, similar to the car driver’s license. The details will be available in Greek and English, including the citizen’s photo, license number, full name, date of birth, tax identification number (AFM), issue date, and expiration date of the license.
Blood Donation Card
The project is implemented, and some administrative procedures are pending for the blood donation card to be added to the digital wallet. Each blood donor will have access to their complete details at any time, including the blood donation card number and the citizen’s blood type.
Papastergiou for THEMA:
A vote of confidence in digital Greece.
“Imagine you want to change your energy provider. Instead of collecting certificates and waiting in lines or sending them via email, soon you will be able to easily, quickly, and from anywhere, give your consent from your mobile screen through the Gov.gr Wallet. In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy, we are implementing a new simple process.
A notification will appear on your phone to give approval for the use of specific personal information at that moment, to complete the process you have requested. It is at least paradoxical in the digital age not to utilize the interoperability of systems and to suffer from bureaucracy or even to exacerbate the digital version of it.
Nearly 2 million citizens have already installed the Gov.gr Wallet app on their phones. This is a significant vote of confidence in the digital state, which we are strengthening daily with new services for the benefit of citizens and businesses. Very soon, six new applications will enrich our digital wallet, which we want to become a super app, fulfilling Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s vision for a new digital Greece.”
