A new statement was made by the well-known criminal lawyer, Apostolos Lytras, regarding the beating of his wife, Sophia Polyzogopoulou, for which he is accused, noting among other things that he has already begun to receive psychological support while claiming that he did not invent the narrative that the 37-year-old woman fell from the stairs.

Particularly surprising is that in the press release issued on Tuesday afternoon, Apostolos Lytras points out “I never “invented” the narrative that my wife allegedly fell from the ladder – she chose this version (despite my disagreement), for the protection of our children, because she initially thought that this would protect them from negative publicity. In any case , I respect and bow to her decision to testify about what exactly happened.”

Elsewhere, he notes that he understands the anger of people “who for months have watched me speak as an advocate for condemning all forms of violence and, now, see me as a perpetrator of the very violence I was condemning…” adding that “unfortunately, public discourse launches you high with noise, but brings you down in an instant with a bang…”

He then goes on to say that he has started ” a counseling – therapy program and I will keep my promise to the hilt to make up (as much as possible) for what I have done.”

At the same time, he says that he had never used violence in the past towards his wife, adding that “this does not negate the wrongfulness of my act”, while calling “not to reproduce false ‘news’ about allegedly ‘other’ acts that I allegedly ‘committed'”.

A detailed statement by Apostolos Lytras:

“From the first moment I was before the Justice, I apologised for my condemnable act and promised my wife and children to receive care from a special counseling center, so that I could understand what it is that pushed me to this horrible behaviour.

I understand the anger of the entire world who for months have watched me speak as an advocate for condemning all forms of violence and, now, see me as a perpetrator of the very violence I condemned… Unfortunately, public discourse launches you high with noise, but brings you down in an instant with a bang…

As promised, I have already started a counseling – therapy program and will keep my promise to the hilt to make up (as much as possible) for what I did.

I would only like to emphasise the following:

a) I have never used any form of violence, verbal or physical, on my wife. This, does not negate the wrongfulness of my act, however, I ask that you please do not reproduce false “news” about supposedly “other” acts that I supposedly “committed”.

b) In addition to me, who rightfully receives all this criticism, there are 3 minor children who have been living a living hell for the past few days. The responsibility is not a family one, and any form of internet attack against me cannot be passed on to young children because of their surname.

I will be brought before my natural Judge, I will stand trial and accept the punishment that will rightly be imposed on me. But please do not hold this trial through screens, anonymous hate comments, etc.

Finally, I would like to point out that I never “invented” the narrative that my wife allegedly fell down the stairs – she chose this version (despite my disagreement) to protect our children, because she originally thought it would protect them from negative publicity . In any case , I respect and bow to her decision to testify to what exactly happened.”

Lytra’s wife is still in danger, the Supreme Court finds

The reasoning behind the order to expedite the main inquest and trial for Apostolos Lytras regarding the beating of his wife, explain circles of theSupreme Court who note that his wife is still in danger.

Specifically, according to circles at the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office, Ms Adilini’s order today to expedite the interrogation and expedite the criminal lawyer’s case to the hearing, in addition to being a standard procedure in prosecutorial proceedings, was made as it is believed that the victim and his wife are still in a state of danger.

And that is because the medical reports, the cruelty of the violence against his wife, the obligation of Mr. Lytra’s obligation to attend a special treatment program to prevent him from repeating his violent behaviour do not ensure that his dangerousness has been eliminated and that a recurrence of similar behaviour is precluded.

The order of the prosecutor of the Supreme Court

In a second intervention in the Lytra case earlier today, the prosecutor of the high court, Georgia Adilini, ordered that the main interrogation in the case of the lawyer Apostolos Lytras due to the seriousness of the felony domestic violence against his wife.

In the same order, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court requests that the case also be prioritized for a hearing.

Mrs Adilini’s order reads as follows:

After taking into account the extreme seriousness of the recent case of felony domestic aggravated aggravated domestic battery by A.L., which was committed against his wife, S.P, as an extreme expression of the ever-increasing domestic violence that plagues society, but also the danger that the victim continues to face in view of the particular characteristics of the above act, we order, in application of the provision of Article 32(1)(b) of the Criminal Code, that the victim shall not be subjected to any further violence. c of the Code of Civil Procedure: a) that the relevant main inquiry, which is already being carried out by order of the Athens Public Prosecutor, be conducted with absolute priority, in which the prosecuted act is specified in detail, without disregarding the need, as is self-evident, for the investigation to be complete and for the necessary evidence to be collected; and b) that the case be brought before the hearing, with absolute priority, likewise. likewise, the case be brought before the hearing.

In particular, the president and the prosecutor of the Supreme Court ordered an urgent preliminary disciplinary investigation into the possible responsibilities of judicial and prosecutorial officials regarding their actions during the pre-trial stage in the case of the lawyer, who is accused of domestic violence.

The intervention of the two senior judges took place as Apostolos Lytras was released, while the act he is accused of is a felony.

The president and the prosecutor are asking for an investigation into whether there is any disciplinary responsibility against the investigator and the prosecutor who decided to release the criminal lawyer with restrictions despite the felony nature of the offence he was charged with and the particular gravity of the act he confessed to.
