Apostolos Lytras was surrendered to the Pallini Police Station, after the warrant for his arrest by the competent judicial authorities, who found that he has violated the restrictive conditions imposed on him.
Upon arriving at the station, Mr. Lytras reiterated his regret for his action and said that as soon as he was informed of the arrest warrant he surrendered, while denying that he had sent a threatening message. He was at a relative’s house in the northern suburbs.
According to his version, his eldest daughter, who maintains good relations with his wife Sophia Polyzogopoulou, took the initiative to go with his ex-wife and his lawyer to the house in Gerakas to get clothes, as he did not have any. His eldest daughter also needed money, as her sister had to travel to Cyprus. He denies he had anything to do with the visit.
The lawyer had been released under restraints by the investigator and the prosecutor after his apology for the brutal beating of his wife Sophia Polyzogopoulou.
The arrest warrant
The issuance of a warrant against the accused felony lawyer came after the request submitted today by Mrs. Polyzogopoulou through her lawyer Themis Sofou. In her request, the lawyer referred to a violation of the restraining conditions imposed on her accused husband, citing messages she received from him and the visit of his ex-wife and two other persons to her house in Gerakas.
Furthermore, the arrest warrant was issued because the accused lawyer not only violated the restraints but also because he was considered a flight suspect as the police informed that they were looking for him and did not find him in the context of the self-incriminating procedure.
After the issuance of the arrest warrant Apostolos Lytras is expected to be arrested and taken to prison as the restraining conditions no longer exist, they have been replaced with pre-trial detention.
